Hey there, fellow small business owner! Putting together a website is important, don’t waste time on things that won’t work! You Need a Home Page that Converts! We all know that having a website is important, but what good is it if it doesn’t convert visitors into customers? I’m sharing 4 things to help improve your website home page.
Stick with me to the end & I’ll share the game-changer bonus tip to convert browsers to buyers!
Your value proposition should be front and center on your homepage. What is this? It’s a fancy way of saying tell people what you do! Letting visitors know exactly what you offer and why they should choose you over your competition. They aren’t only shopping for a product of service but also a brand they connect with on an base level. Keep it short, sweet and to the point.
If your home page is confusing & they visitor doesn’t immediately understand who you are and what you do, they will leave. Which is no bueno for conversions. Have a clear message that’s easy to read and understand.
Humans naturally follow the herd & value opinions. When they see others achieving success with your product or service, they’re more likely to trust you. This translates into them becoming a customer! Converting to sales. Add testimonials or social proof to your home page to show potential customers that you’re worth investing in. Research others in your field, you’ll likely find that the top competition all has visible reviews & testimonials, adding to their credibility with other customers.
No one wants to stare at a wall of text, so add high-quality images or videos to your homepage. This not only breaks up the content and makes it more visually appealing, but it also shows off your product or service in action. Try to include images or videos that evoke positive emotions and showcase how your product or service can benefit customers.
If you haven’t had a branding photoshoot, don’t panic! There are some amazing curated stock photos companies you can use! Here is one one of my favorites, Elevae! Use these for your website, blog, social media and marketing! Plus, they regularly add new content so you can always stay fresh & not stress!
Your visitors should be able to easily find what they’re looking for on your website. Have you ever clicked on a website that was frustrating and confusing to use? Let me guess, chance’s are high you closed the tab & moved on. Don’t let your website miss out on sales because of bad navigation!
Make sure your homepage has an easy-to-use navigation menu that clearly outlines the different sections of your site. I recommend to my clients that they should have a drop down navigation on their desktop too! People understand and have been trained on mobile website designs, their brains know to click the icon at the top of the screen to view more.
Bonus tip! Your CTA should be prominent and easily visible on your home page. Whether it’s “Sign up now” or “Shop the collection”. Make sure you’re telling your visitors exactly what you want them to do. If you don’t guide them to what you want them to do, they are essentially on a scavenger hunt.
Have CTA’s throughout your page, and always one at the bottom too! Pop ups can be a great CTA, but use them sparingly. No one likes a website with a pop up on every page – especially if it says the same thing. Approach these like you are the customer, put them where you would want one!
And there you have it, 4 key things your home page needs to create a high converting website. Remember, your website is your online storefront, so it’s important to make a great first impression. By incorporating these key elements into your homepage, you’ll be well on your way to converting visitors into loyal customers.
